During the inauguration of Jashore University of Science and Technology campus on December 27, 2010, Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the establishment of an IT park of international standard in Jashore. After a long period of testing and verification, the work of this project was started on 25th April, 2014 in Bejpara area of Jashore city. Jashore district is located in the south-west of Bangladesh. The district has uninterrupted communication with the capital Dhaka by road, rail and air. Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park has directly and indirectly created employment opportunities for 5,000 people. The infrastructure of the project has been constructed at a cost of Taka 237.29 crore. IT entrepreneurs from home and abroad have been able to invest in four areas: software development, freelancing, call center and research & development.
The main building of the project is constructed in earthquake resistant composite structures (steel and concrete). In addition, there will be fiber optic connectivity. 33 KVA substation has been set up for uninterrupted power supply and two thousand kilowatt capacity generators have been installed. In front of the main building of the park, there is a huge reservoir of five acres, in the clear water of which there are various species of domestic and foreign fish and aquatic animals. The government has set up 'Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park' in Jashore to enrich the country's IT sector and attract local and foreign investors. The establishment of ‘Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park’, Jashore has opened the door to the potential of IT, ICT, freelancing or outsourcing sectors in the south-western part of the country.
